Dr. El,
I really enjoyed reading your interview. Of course, you gave an excellent description of what you do. I would like to emphasize how important it is and the benefits of having a psychologist in a nursing home for virtually all residents. More specifically, the good you do for the individuals you work with, as well as your work in improving life in nursing homes everywhere.
Thanks, Sue. I do, of course, agree that psychological services are valuable for residents, especially as they adjust to the new surroundings and often new illness, but also as life challenges arise during their stay, such as a physical or emotional loss. It’s exciting to be able to bring the perspective I offer to individual residents to others interested in creating an emotionally healthy environment while coping with physical health challenges.
